Brows, Confidence & Your Journey

Losing your hair, brows, and lashes during breast cancer treatment can feel overwhelming - but you don’t have to face it alone.

Inspired by our Managing Director Taj Giles’ own journey, this page brings together support, tutorials, and tools to help you feel like yourself again.

Taj was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, and due to chemotherapy, she lost most of her hair and eyebrows.

“I continued to work and quickly found a solution for my hair, but I hadn’t thought about my eyebrows. Fortunately, I’m in the right business and found using a stencil helped to create a brow when I had nothing to work with.

We developed the new BBB London Eyebrow Stencils to be self-adhesive, reusable and act as an invaluable guide, helping you to map out the fundamentals including position and thickness, with ease.

Each month, we also join Future Dreams, a breast cancer support charity, to run brow workshops that give women practical tools and confidence as they navigate hair loss."

"We want to ensure no one has to navigate their hair loss journey alone.

We’re here with tools, tutorials, and community to help you feel like yourself again."

Confidence through every stage of the journey

Every woman's experience with breast cancer and hair loss is different.

Whether you choose to use products right away or wait until you feel ready, know that there are ways to support yourself at every stage.

Before chemotherapy

Give your skin a little extra care by keeping it well-nourished with gentle, hydrating creams and oils - this can help maintain comfort as you move into treatment.

Some women also like to keep a brow pen or stencil kit close at hand. Practising before treatment begins can offer reassurance and make you feel more prepared if changes to your brows start to happen.

During Chemotherapy

If your brows begin to thin or disappear, lightweight brow pencils, pens and stencils can help you softly recreate your natural shape, even if you’ve never drawn brows before.

Hydrating oils can help ease dryness, giving your skin a little extra care.

Remember: it’s not about creating a full look every day, sometimes a simple brow line can bring back a sense of 'you.'

Recovery & Regrowth

As your hair starts to return, brow serums can help encourage & stimulate natural growth.

Shaping tools (such as tweezers or brow tamers) can help you feel in control of your look again as your brows take shape.

This is also a great time to rebuild routines that make you feel confident - whether that’s makeup, self-care, or simply celebrating your regrowth.

Frequently asked questions

Every journey is different, but you’re not alone in your questions. Here are some of the things women often ask us about brows and hair loss during treatment.

What products are safe to use?

Whilst going through chemotherapy, gentle, non-irritating products are best.

At BBB London, our brow products, from eyebrow pencils to gels to stencils and serums are designed for sensitive skin and can help you recreate a natural look without discomfort.

What should I do if I've never filled in my brows before?

You’re not alone.

Many women try drawing brows for the first time during treatment. Our tutorials and stencils make it easy, even if you’ve never used a brow pencil before.

Each month, we run a workshop at Future Dreams in London, where we support people experiencing hair loss by teaching them how to recreate their natural eyebrow shape using a range of techniques and products.

Can I prevent my brow hairs from falling out?

Unfortunately, there's no guaranteed way to stop hair loss during chemotherapy.

But caring for your skin and using gentle products can make the transition easier and support healthy regrowth afterwards.

How can I make my brows look natural if I've lost them completely?

Losing your brows after chemotherapy can feel daunting, especially with so many products and techniques out there.

A great place to start is with brow stencils - they act as a guide to help you find and recreate your natural shape.

From there, it’s all about finding the product that works best for you.

If you’d like a soft, natural look that mimics real brow hairs, our Eyebrow Pen is a fantastic option. Its micro tri-tip nib is designed to create fine, hair-like strokes, and once applied, it stays put for over 20 hours, no smudging involved.

Can I have microblading before starting chemotherapy?

Some women do decide to have their brows microbladed before treatment starts, as it can help them feel more like themselves if their brows thin or fall out.

The key thing is timing.

Because chemotherapy can make your skin more sensitive and slower to heal, it’s usually not a good idea to have microblading done too close to your first session.

The safest option is always to check with your medical team before booking anything, as they’ll know what’s best for you. And if microblading doesn’t feel right or the timing isn’t possible, there are plenty of gentle alternatives, such as brow pens, that can still give you natural-looking brows and a boost of confidence.

What about lashes - is there anything I can do?

If your lashes fall out, you can still add brightness and definition to your eyes with eyeliner. Many women also turn to lash serums after treatment to help encourage healthy regrowth.

How To: Use Brow Stencils to Create Natural Brows

We created our Eyebrow Stencil Mapping tool to help take the hassle out of trying to get symmetrical, balanced brows. Instead these reusable, self-adhesive stencils act as invaluable guides.

  1. Map point A, from the side of your nose to the inner corner of your eye

  2. Map point B, from the corner of your nose with the outer edge of your pupil

  3. Map point C, from the side of the nose to the outer corner of the eye

  4. Then, line up the Eyebrow Stencil with point A (beginning of brow) and B (arch of brow)

  5. Use your pen or pencil of choice, fill the sparse areas using small, upward strokes

  6. Next, line up point C (tail end of the brow), and continue to fill using small, downwards strokes.

How To: Create Natural Looking Brows

For effortlessly natural-looking brows, our Eyebrow Pen is your go-to.

Featuring a precision tri-tip micro nib, it lets you create soft, hair-like strokes for perfectly defined yet subtle brows for 20hrs+.

  1. Shake to activate.

For your Eyebrow Pen to work perfectly every time, it's crucial that you store your pen tip-down.

  2. Apply onto clean, dry brows with light feathery strokes from above, in the direction of your hairs, to achieve a natural microbladed effect.

Please note: skin and brows must be both clean and dry before application.

  3. Remember to store your Eyebrow Pen tip-down to avoid your pen from drying out.
