Patch Tests
Why do we do patch tests?
We carry out patch tests to make sure you are not sensitive to any of the ingredients in our products.
What is a patch test?
A Patch test is a skin sensitivity test that is carried out for most treatments, especially those that involve chemicals and products that may cause irritation to the skin. A patch test is carried out by applying a small amount of product to the skin which allows the client and the therapist to check the area for any signs of a reaction.
Who needs to have a patch test?
For treatments when this is required, all new clients must have a patch test 48 hours prior to the treatment. Patch tests are then updated every 6 months, to ensure there is no change in circumstances that can cause any reaction to the skin.
Why do I need to wait 48 hours before my treatment?
This is the time given by the manufacturers to patch test the product.

Do I have to have a patch test, can I sign to say I’m happy to go ahead without one?
We strongly recommend everyone has a patch test with us, however you may be eligible to sign a waiver form with us if you meet our conditions.
The conditions are: I have had similar treatments before on many occasions without reaction. / I do not have sensitive skin. / I have not had a reaction to tints or hair dyes in the past./ I agree to have a patch test today which will be valid for the next 6 months.
What does sensitivity to the product look like?
It would show as a red, itchy, sore area. This reaction would mean that the client is unsuitable for the treatment.
What if I only have a little sensitivity from the patch test, can I still go ahead with the treatment?
Unfortunately not, the patch test is a much smaller quantity then the treatment so it’s very likely that a reaction would occur if your skin shows any signs of sensitivity.
